BRAZILLIAN WALKING IRIS

The Brazilian Walking Iris (Neomarica gracilis) is a striking and unique perennial plant known for its vibrant, orchid-like flowers and distinctive walking growth habit. Native to Brazil, this plant is admired for its stunning blossoms that emerge in shades of blue, white, and purple, with intricate markings. The flowers appear on tall, arching stems, often with multiple blooms at once, creating a dramatic display.

As its name suggests, the Brazilian Walking Iris “walks” or spreads as its long stems bend downward, producing new plantlets at the tips, which root into the ground and form new plants. This characteristic makes it an excellent choice for ground cover or a specimen plant in the garden. It thrives in tropical and subtropical climates, preferring well-drained soil and partial shade, although it can tolerate full sun in cooler regions.

The Brazilian Walking Iris is also relatively low-maintenance, requiring occasional watering and some basic care to keep its vibrant flowers blooming.
