Red Dragon Fruit

The Red Dragon Fruit is a striking climbing cactus with thick, three-sided emerald stems that ramble and sprawl as they grow, eventually rewarding you with dramatic night-blooming flowers and vivid red-skinned fruit. Its sculptural, jointed form brings a bold tropical presence to a sunny patio, glasshouse or courtyard, and it happily scrambles up a stake, trellis or timber post where its trailing arms can really show off. As easygoing as it is unusual, it makes a wonderful talking point for anyone wanting an edible plant with real character.

Give it a bright, warm position with plenty of light, ideally full sun to gentle morning sun with protection from harsh afternoon extremes. Being an epiphytic cactus it likes a free-draining mix and a soak-then-dry approach, so water thoroughly and let the top of the soil dry out before the next drink, easing right back over the cooler months. Grown and potted on-site, each plant is hand-picked and ready to settle into its new home.
