The Pretty Turtle, better known as Peperomia prostrata or String of Turtles, is a charming little trailer whose tiny round leaves are patterned like miniature tortoise shells, each one etched with silvery veins over deep green. As the delicate stems tumble over the edge of a pot they form a fine, cascading curtain of foliage that stays neat and compact, making it a lovely pick for a shelf, a hanging planter, or a spot on the desk where its detail can be admired up close.
Give it bright, indirect light to keep the leaf markings crisp, and let the top of the mix dry out between drinks, as its semi-succulent leaves store their own moisture and dislike sitting wet. A little extra humidity is always welcome. Grown and potted on-site, each plant is hand-picked and ready to settle into its new home.
