String of Turtles

The String of Turtles (Peperomia prostrata) is a charming, delicate trailing plant with tiny round leaves patterned like little turtle shells in green, silver and deep purple. Slow-growing and dainty, its beaded strands look beautiful spilling over the edge of a small pot, shelf or hanging planter.

It's a forgiving, low-fuss plant that thrives in bright, indirect light, which keeps its markings crisp. Its little semi-succulent leaves store water, so it only needs watering once the top of the soil has dried out, making it a lovely, easy pick for beginners and small spaces.
