How to grow: Snow peas are easy and best sown directly where they are to grow. Sow seeds about 2 to 3 cm deep in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. They are a cool-season crop, sown from autumn through early spring in most areas. Set up a trellis or netting before or at sowing, as this climbing variety reaches around 1.5m and needs support. Water in well, then water moderately, keeping it more even once flowering and podding. Avoid overwatering early, which can rot the seeds. Seeds germinate in one to two weeks. Space plants around 5 to 8 cm apart along the trellis. Pick the flat pods young and often while the peas inside are still small, which keeps the plant productive. Good companions include carrot and radish.
