How to grow: Tomatoes love warmth and sun. Sow seeds about 5 mm deep into trays or pots in early spring, and keep them warm, around 20 to 25 degrees, to germinate, which takes one to two weeks. Grow seedlings on and transplant into a warm, sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well-drained soil and a pH around 5.5 to 7.5, once the weather has warmed and all frost has passed. Space plants around 50 to 60 cm apart and stake or cage them, as this is a tall variety. Water deeply and regularly at the base rather than over the leaves, keeping moisture even to prevent fruit splitting, and feed through the season. Pinch out side shoots on the main stem for larger fruit. Good companions include calendula and onion, which help deter pests.
